its so funny that discord has a universal time converter but has not implemented it into the ui in any way. you have to google for some nerd's website to convert to syntax for you. guys you've had like a decade to implement that properly

what really gets me is the built in events system they have tries to adjust for timezones but can get thrown off by DST happening between when you set an event and it happening
what if typing a time (format 00:00 or 00:00 AM/PM) automatically converted to that, and you had the option to turn off conversion in the settings like how you can turn off things like :) becoming 😀?
a solution i've implemented in a bot is for you to go !time 2 and it posts the timestamp (after getting and remembering your time zone in dms). it assumes pm by default, but being able to share a time with no effort has been a godsend in our community, we use it constantly to plan meetings
The there are two use cases: the need to effortlessly say "let's meet at 2". The other is to say a time at a specific date. UX solutions for both cases, one where you stay within the type box, and the other where you choose a date with more options, would be a game changer!
there's another consideration: the original time should be hidden. otherwise the user's location is doxxed. (my solution doesn't do this and gets away with it since we're a smaller private community) However an in client solution could easily replace the original text so that this isn't a problem
I mean, images can only be tagged as spoiler if the gile name is spoiler. Like, that's been solved long ago elsewhere but Discord has such a roundabout method...
it's genuinely one of the most useful features they have! life changing stuff for organizing hangouts online. you have to solve the riddles three to even know it exists
This is absolutely the most infuriating part of discord tbh. Having to google and copy paste some unreadable bullshit just to get a timestamp… wanna edit it? Go back to another third party site.
They already have little tooltips for stickers and emotes, should be trivial to add ui for dates?
Wow. If I ever seriously started learning coding my first project would have been exactly that--a bot that looks at time zones via added roles and automatically converts times they write into your time zone lol
my favorite part is how you get a different nerd's website every time.
my second favorite part is that every time you use it, someone in the group chat will have never heard of it before and ask you which timezone it's in. I say this because I have done it lol

but yeah discord didn't have server folders for like the first 5-6 years of its existence the MBAs are MBAing

I love it so damn much and use it all the time
And also I love Vesktop in general ^^
Insufferable incompetence.
Yeah. Yeah.
