but I honestly can’t blame these readers for seeing it that way. It takes another step down into a deeper reading to understand how this is anything but asa regaining agency and autonomy that the text just isn’t providing a foothold to do so on.

yeah, i put this more on Fujimoto than the reader.

the story has loosely followed Asa & Denji's situationship, where we haven't seen Asa's POV on anything. none of her thoughts on this supposed 'romance', let alone her feelings on Yoru exploiting her body in general.

once again I have to say that I feel it is a fundamental mistake to make the horror of asayoru solely the confusion and pain it inflicts on denji and how it roadblocks an asaden relationship rather than any focus on the pure horror of asa having her bodily autonomy taken from her

if this- asa as the pure true love that denji really needs, a functional character for his healing- is where we’re going, then I’d also call the greater premise of examining gender and social norms and the limitations they put upon people on the margins

The Girl as an emotional savior to a broken and sexually twisted Boy, wherein she is made a function of that role rather than giving her any kind of agency over her own sexuality- as the emotional core and ultimate thesis of love of your story.

I think it’s frustrating cause honestly this is a more challenging critique to make than pointing out the obviously abusive women are abusive cause I think the power of “good heterosexuality” has a stronger grip on our culture that’s not to say healthy romantic relationships cant

be healing or aren’t beneficial but on the level of social commentary, in broader context, it’s very weak to write about the fundamental flaws within heteronormative culture than come to the conclusion that one just needs to be in a “good” heterosexual relationship

Only thing other than Denji that we can expect from Asa is some dialogue with Yoru, but i think Yoru is too drunk on her illusion of grandiose to even care about Asa at this point.

Probaly she'll stay offline for even more time.
