I’m up on the North West coast. Great scenery, at least 10 miles of uninterrupted coastline to walk. Yes we get rain and wind but I wouldn’t say it’s inordinately so.

All the Yorkshire coast is pretty remote to be honest - mostly an hour from the A1 except for the Hull area. Most of Scarborough (45 minutes to York) is a bit skanky in my experience (or maybe just the people I knew there). Lincolnshire is dull as Mr Plan advises.

If location is not an issue you want to be north of Newcastle. Between Alnwick and Tynemouth - personally I love Warkworth but may be a bit pricey.

The northwest is super rainy, which leaves the east coast. And unless you want the stunning Northumberland coast, I’d suggest in the vicinity of Scarborough. Whitby is too remote though. It’s an hour from the rest of Yorkshire.

Bleakness of coastal towns a bit meh for me. I'm based 40min south of York & 30min Leeds. Around 1hr from Filey, but visit Runswick most. Great coast up there. Staithes, Sandsend beach to Whitby. Saltburn I've briefly visited, proximity to Middlesbrough could be useful.
