i really do worry about how younger people/generations are becoming more heavily sanitized to serious topics with people using TikTok censorship speak along with how puritanism is becoming more Dominant online, ESPECIALLY IN QUEER SPACES.

I also have this concern, especially with the rise in book challenges. How are they going to develop well rounded world views if they’re all being feed one specific view? It’s incredibly disheartening
This has been a frequent annoyance of mine for a few years now. Baby Queers not knowing how to be in a queer community cause they’re using the same rules for how to behave on social media in real life, and then getting upset when those rules just don’t work with people
I swear on George Carlin's eternal soul if someone unironically uses "unalive" while talking to me, I will kill them where they stand, and then myself.
I worked in a school for a while as an IT technician and the kids had made posters about a book they were studying and they had "so (character) found that her sister unalived herself" on one of them and I wanted to scream
Gonna end up with people taking this baby speak at face value and just believe grapes are a somehow inherently evil food at this rate while completely ignoring real problems.
actually "ahh" is apart of aave(African American vernacular English) which literally translates to "ass" it's not really censorship but rather just a abbreviation
Have you used the lists to block people? There are a few that weed out lots of people on BSKY who are pro-censorship in fandom and art spaces. If you sub to them you can mass block anyone on the list.
Whenever I hear people using TikTok censorship it feels like Im getting hit over the head with the Newspeak from Orwells 1984. That censorship probably is intended to have the same effect of squashing any critical thinking that Newspeak accomplished in the book.
I understand why some people feel the need to do it, especially on platforms like YouTube where demonetization and age-restriction heavily effects viewership, but people need to realize that saying shit like "he had no-no pictures on his hard drive" is down playing the severity of child porn

So let's hope I never meet a TikTok kid irl.
I’ve seen so many random white kids lately using it as a censor along with other TikTok phrases I had no idea.
Never mind I don’t want to become a terrorist anymore.
