What a great example for why member co-ops aren't good enough to democratize the political economy :)

I mean sure...better than pure extraction.

But methinks we need more worker co-op hybrid models being explored!

Smaller ones tend to be better, especially when they require members to provide labor. The issues arise when size increases and the rift between management and members grows. This applies to worker co-ops too. Unions are therefore necessary for larger co-ops, even if workers/members have a vote.

CHCA (2,000 workers co-op) in NY operates in a way where workers are owners and unionists. Ownership and control supports aligned incentives (good for productivity) and excludes capitalist extractors, while unions solidify representation. In multistakeholder cooperatives this would likely work well.
