Pelosi did a marvelous job of effectively managing a narrow majority in the House. It was a masterclass in how to wield the power of a speaker in that situation. THAT'S winning.
I personally like her, but Pelosi is a corporate democrat. That may have worked then, but it won't work now. If Dems don't declare themselves on the side of the working class, unequivocally, they won't win again.
Agreed that Dems could do better at messaging. I wish they'd put Buttigieg in charge of it.
The problem is that declaring you're on the side of the working class while being against it in all you do is the kind of hypocrisy that the GOP gets away with and Democrats won't stoop to.
Buttigieg is great at communicating for sure. Are you saying Dems are not on the side of the working class and won't stoop to lying about it? Why aren't they on the side of the working class?
Not saying that at all. I'm saying we ARE on the side of the working class, everything we do confirms that. We're just terrible about communicating it.
The GOP will say and do any fatuous thing and their voters eat it up because it sounds good, not because of anything they've done to help them.

You know of someone who could have done better?
