🔸 Most of the socio-economic background (SEB) and ethnic inequalities in entry to professional occupations are driven by employer-side decisions made during the recruitment process

🔸 And withdrawal rates among applicants from different SEBs and by ethnicity are very similar
🔸 Lower SEB applicants are 32% less likely to get an offer than those from professional backgrounds
🔸 Half of the gap in offer rates for low SEB applicants occur at the online stage while the other half occur at face-to-face stage
🔸 The Gov't's Opportunities Mission should look beyond the education system to challenge employers to drive down inequalities by socio-economic status
