Filed my taxes. God bless the IRS, fuck TurboTax, Intuit and H&R Block must be destroyed. Left my @jdcmedlock.bsky.social manifesto in the feedback form

Not sponsored but all I paid the last 3 years was $7 voluntarily each year for free amendments. Still free with stock sales, self-employed income, and the one form from my home sale that didn't result in any taxes but made TurboTax bump me up to the $100+ tier.
Mine were fairly easy so I did it myself. I filled out digital versions of form 1040 and found it to be fairly straightforward. I took a financial literacy class in high school (after leaving it to chance) and I got to admit doing 1040 forms over and over made me never forget it as an adult.
The free fillable forms program isn't bad, but isn't for the faint of heart either. The good news is that the IRS itself is relatively quick about accepting your return if you send it this way as opposed to the post.
TurboTax is also free for ‘simple returns’ (probably the same ones that Cash App is free for). The scam (besides marketing) is that they try to trick you into paying for unnecessary extras anyway. Hopefully Cash App doesn't do that.
