The U.S. military established a presence on Greenland during World War II under the 1941 Defense Agreement with Denmark. While the U.S. could easily request an expanded presence, it hasn’t done so—just like with mining.

Trump’s interest in Greenland seems driven by a MAGA-style “Lebensraum.”
