There’s a weird thing happening where everything in the sun switches to shade when I zoom in to about 1”=1mi or so. At first I thought maybe it was starting to consider tree canopy at that scale, but that doesn’t seem right either, based on what I know about the area. Any ideas?

It does consider tree canopy in some places: my local park shows where the sports fields are very clearly, everything else is partial shade (and buildings give full shade).
