More independent candidates can run the place of Democrats when they'd do better, like what Bernie Sanders and Angus King do and Dan Osborn came close to winning by doing.
We don’t need a multiple party system. We already have a coalition of different types of liberals & left-leaning conservatives. Progressives can get inactive progressives onboard, etc. Just need to talk to people who might not be aware of what’s happening.

Instead they actively sabotage their coalition.
Dem leadership should be replaced. I worry for anybody who hasn't come to this conclusion.

But the basic point that in a simple plurality single district system you always end up with two main parties is very true
Two parties isn't normal or natural. We built systems to ensure it.
Also, "the Dems get to be the multiparty and the GOP gets 50% just for showing up" still reads as apocalyptic.
Stopping you here. Three things:
1) In this country, two parties is as normal as it gets.
2) You are confusing cause and effect. The electoral college was not created to crush third parties.
3) Even in multi-party systems, almost all of them have two big parties.
Also that if we insist on keeping government-ran primaries, we should allow for faction labels for candidates on primary ballots.
