Yah the guardrails are gone. He owns all three branches. We are now an authoritarian state. If he allows the midterms to take place, we have a chance. Otherwise, get ready to align with Russia.

Bruh, Russia still has elections. But I think the US will be more like India under Modi. They also have elections but their Bharatiya Janata Party keeps winning despite massive corruption and unpopularity.

And “he” doesn’t “own” any branches. Many people who work in the other two branches of government are broadly aligned with him. Many others are not. Many (all) who are on his side also have their OWN agendas and incentives. This is just all such a child’s view of government.

Hungary had an easy fiscal situation subsidized by the EU. The US, conversely, has finally found the limit where more deficit spending reliably produces more inflation.

That will change voter preference but like the US, Hungary is highly Gerrymandered. The question is who counts the votes, how districts are defined, who controls the media, and who controls the courts. Look at the North Carolina supreme court election.
