America will likely endure and continue to be a major power. The damage to our international standing will be irreparable because 1945 USA is literally the best possible hand any country ever has or will be dealt. Nuke monopoly + only major power not destroyed after a world war isn’t replicable.

Sometime this century the US, Canada, and Mexico should really create our own version of the Schengen Zone (inviting other countries eventually).

Sudden union is a terrible idea, but a loose confederation with free movement of labor and capital would be immensely valuable to us all.

Absolutely agreed. Too much friction at the borders. And that may decrease as Mexico closes the gap in quality of life with the U.S. Of course, we need to exorcise some demons at home first.

The ultimate goal should be for there to one day be an EU-style confederation, with some improvements and especially with NO COMMON CURRENCY (bad, very bad) that covers the entire free world.

You could certainly invision an East Asian bloc of prosperous free countries. It would help mitigate the threat of China. We’d have to see if Korea and Japan can overcome historical enmity.

In any event, I wouldn't count a massive revitalization of the US out, either. The basis for our power was always our economic and technological strength plus sheer size, and we have a lot of room to expand our population if we have the will to pursue growth at any cost.

It was inevitable that other power blocs would arise as prosperity spread. It’s good for people to be lifted out of poverty. It definitely could have been handled more gracefully however.
