My favorite indie game is an odd Metroidvania platformer called Dandara. With unique traversal mechanics as in she can only travel by these cool looking jumps. Don't really hear many talk about it
After reading a piece on it, I knew instantly that this was for me. The old school visuals and the unhinged story are something I am greatly looking forward to and I hope to get to this one soon. https://store.steampowered.com/app/2475490/Mouthwashing/
This one has been sitting in my library for longer than I care to admit. Not even sure why I haven't gotten to it yet, I've heard plenty of great things about the dialogue system and I really want to see it for myself. https://store.steampowered.com/app/388880/Oxenfree/
The cinematic style of this game really sold it for me and I knew I had to experience it as an exploration of my craft..... I juuuuuust haven't gotten to it yet. 😅 https://store.steampowered.com/app/374030/Virginia/
Who could say no to a queer science fiction mecha visual novel? The premise sounds super interesting and the art looks great, so of course I nabbed it. I love that it's set in the 80's, bringing a nice twist to the space adventuring.
Well, my backlog is 100% on PS. I never even MADE a Steam account until a couple months ago to get an exclusive No Man's Sky ship they had for free for a couple weeks (and I don't even own the game on that platform yet). I'm one of those old school "get your DRM platform off my lawn!" cranks. 😅 Of
I've honestly hoarded so many games myself that I doubt I'll ever end up touching all of them... 😅 At least my efforts to play more indies since last year have helped me clear some of it!
I now have a vision for retirement, gonna open a cafe - we’ll have coffee and my cousin with bake treats. It’ll have video games but really its just me going through my backlog.
And it also goes for books, movie, or anything really. I don't know why we start to embrace that shame culture.
It's conservation... Tho on steam nothing is really ours but, it's still better than nothing. Hoarding on GoG however is a good way to preserve games ^^
Very true! I definitely like to have a (physical if possible) copy of all my favorite media so that they are available for my enjoyment whenever and also for just in case. There should be no shame in embracing the things you love.
Lemme add one more:
Mika and the Witch's Mountain by @chibigstudio.bsky.social. It wears its inspiration clearly on its sleeve, but it is so full of joy and whimsy it is literally one of the most delightful games I've played in a LONG time. Music is absolutely beautiful too!
Sweet!
I mean, I went back and EARNED the trophies that it gave my by being bugged. Hopefully the update will auto-pop the charm one.
REALLY looking forward to the new content! The main story may be short, but it is SUCH a wonderful game. My pleasure to encourage everyone I know to buy it. 😅
Oh, thank you for the rec! The game looks really adorable and whimsical - def putting that on the list for when I wanna just have a chill wholesome time.
I was looking forward to it when I read about it on some gaming news site when they announced it, and then I didn't see anything in like forever. Happened to be browsing through the PS Store two days ago and saw that it was out. Totally surprised! Bought it yesterday, and stayed up WAY too late
finishing the story. It's not that long, but it was so enjoyable I couldn't put it down! (Trophies on PS5 are currently VERY bugged though. Dunno about Steamchievements.)
Not being too long is definitely a plus in my books, since it's easier to find the time and energy for something short and sweet! Makes me more likely to play it sometime soon.

I haven't read Harlan Ellison's short story of the same name and have been wanting to play this before I do. The psychological aspects appeal to me and I can't wait to plunge into the troubled psyche of the characters.

This looks like another unhinged experience with very interesting cinematic choices, making it a must buy for me.

I have accepted my fate
I see no shame in that 😊

The trophies will be fixed in the upcoming patch...that will also include more new content! ^^
