Trump’s conduct isn’t optimized for the goal of reorienting U.S. foreign policy in a durable way. It’s much more capricious and vindictive than that. And that’s because on top of his corrupt relationship with Putin, Trump and Vance (and Musk) are damaged men and their collective Id is in charge.
