It becomes harder to swallow when you remember that the king is charging public services like the NHS and our armed forces millions to use land owned by the crown estate. So we're paying him for the privilege of using land that we pay for...make it make sense.

One point I wonder if it is worth noting, expenses like school meals are recurring but a Royal Wedding is a one off expense.

It was a coronation, not a wedding. It was unnecessary as he became King the moment his mother died. The Royal family are a huge recurring cost and they can afford to feed themselves and all the country’s school children.

Sorry slight typo it was a coronation. He did technically become King on the passing of the queen but the Ceremony still has to take place. He did scale back on cost but could he have done it more ? I don't really know.

The service has hardly changed in 1000 years. It’s a ridiculously outdated ceremony for a ridiculously outdated institution. There should be no place for this in a modern democracy. They are a huge and unnecessary expense.

This isn’t about hating a tradition. My taxes go towards paying for this family and yet I have no say about whether I want them. This is the most secretive organisation in this country and they are completely unaccountable to the taxpayer who fund them.

Not worth it at all. Expecting us to foot the bill at a time where record numbers are living below the poverty line and our public services are on their knees is totally tone deaf. He should have paid for it himself. We don’t need the RF leaching off us any longer.
