I learned my lesson. Don't focus yourself on strangers, don't waste money on them. Your existence is temporary for them. You are easily replaced. You are but data to them, numbers
If you 180* this perspective, then the whole thing becomes a process of just not letting anyone into your life. Sorry for what you went through, but really you can't just say that's expected of EVERY single person to then narrow your perspective. Yep, some do that but some also don't.
I also say this having once ran a small town on an old worldbuilding MC server, not a Vtuber thing but y'know. I saw some of what you mean, and genuinely I hate it to a peak top, but even then there were town owners who valued every recruit and even newcomers who saw their own new town as temporary.
There's still the kinds of people who do that, and genuinely, shame on them for dehumanizing living people who just want to become a part of a community that also then gives the chance to make a story for themself. But even with that, it'll be unfair to pull curtains on the good people in there.
Srry for talking so big. Just hit close to reading that "You are but data to them" portion and definitely had memories of both hating seeing people do that, but also having seen polar opposites to that same thing. 😅
