I am not an expert of flagella biology but the two flagella in this organism are reported to be identical by EM observation so it was surprising to see this localization pattern.
No idea but I will first need to spend some time looking at the sequence properly. Looks like conserved in Bodo and Naegleria (two flagella), not in tryps (one flagellum)
Yes. Diplonemids belong to Euglenozoa that also includes euglenids and kinetoplastids (including Bodo and tryps: trypanosomes). Naegleria is not part of Euglenozoa, but has this protein.
