You not only shouldn’t expect much but the idea you can engage to educate these people and get them to change their minds “once they understand” is deeply flawed and misguided.

People don’t understand economies of scale (also WRT time). Honestly it feels like it accounts for at least half of the misinformation we see. There are houses that are hundreds of years old containing the same wood they were built with. A paper bag can be used once and end up in landfill.

Both use trees as a material. The former is far more sustainable, the latter is not. The same argument can be made with plastic. If you have a resource that lasts a long period of time, then its cost to value is much greater than single use items. I’d expect wooden wind turbines to last generations.
