every artist I've talked to that's left has also reported that their clientele has become much more respectful and less pushy/whiny about prices/etc.

Yuip. That was my experience with Facebook. Yeah I lost some good customers and some good fans, but I lost far more ugly, ugly people who wanted to make my life as miserable as they could.
