I think this is right, but it’s depressing that Biden’s going to shoulder that himself when the Congressmen who prevented permanent adoption of these programs will face little pushback for their positions. It’s like the US population thinks we have a parliamentary system and judges on that

Just adding my experience to this:
I'm a full time employee, 2 years now with company. In 2 years I went from $17 to $18.50. But the job ever since has pretty much put brakes on wage raises, and now want to raise only $1 per year for only 3 years. And they always find an excuse to move slow about it

I earn this in of all places a city so expensive and tax heavy that I end up losing 25% of my income to taxes. I only take home $570 in an absurdly expensive city, even with wage "raises"

They enacted very popular policy for like 7-8 months, improved people’s lives, reduced poverty and childhood hunger. People aren’t going to remember that you voted in favor of this policy temporarily, they’ll remember that you were in power when they no longer had it.
