Teaching writing to children, I emphasize that writing is thinking. I want them to associate the whole process with wonder and self-discovery. I'm hoping my words will make an impact against everything else that they're hearing.

Not knowing where to start, mulling over all the info and ideas and data and deciding where to pull or spin a thread, that's what makes your mark. What makes your take or understanding or argument or discovery something only you could have put together in quite that way. 2/?

It changes you, too. Having it all run through you until you can build a path of words to bring your idea or insight or interpretation of this data into the world. There is so much creativity in the research process, and the writing. I hate to see people missing out on one of the best parts.
