WE CAN ALL DO GOOD INSTEAD OF MISTREATING PEOPLE CAUSE THEY'RE ON THE STREETS. WE ALL HAVE A STORY, SOME OF US ARE JUST BLESSED OUR STORY DIDN'T PUT US ON THE STREET.
Plaudits to Jimmy Darts (Kellogg). I would be willing to bet Jimmy, by whichever name, is not a billionaire and look what he did with this particular man. Just think if a fraction of the time, money and good intentions were spent by some of our billionaires what a positive difference it could make.
This is what people don't understand about the homeless when they yell (assholes that they are), "Get a job!" But those who are homeless have no phone, no home, no shower, no clothes. And, sometimes, no teeth. They need support BEFORE they can get a job!
More tiny homes and affordable rent. More mental healthcare and acceptance. More compassion.
While I’m not an expert, my gut tells me homelessness is the result of poor mental health or just plain bad luck, not bad people.
We need to do much better.
I've never heard of the guy. Is he not actually helping people? I don't particularly care if he makes money off of helping people, as long as people are actually being helped.
Part of what drives us to accept homelessness is when our working conditions are worse. So many employers use abuse to compel labor, and create an environment of ruthless internal competition instead of the company working as a real team.
If you are homeless, the chance of getting yourself housed on your own is zero. You can't bathe or wash your clothes, how can you possibly get and hold down a job. 20,000 to get this man back into society is such a small amount.
THIS...this is what "loving thy neighbor" is. Folks like Tom want to work, they just need a little help (and a friend) along the way. I do this in helping our homeless veterans' shelter. The joy you get back is priceless!
I have long proposed that rather than institutionalized aid, the poor and homeless should have their welfare assigned to a small group of citizens who would be responsible for helping a single person get back on their feet, into housing, school, etc.
1. Look at foster care. They're helping KIDS and abuse is still rampant. Oversight is vital.
2. Disabled ppl make up the majority of homeless ppl and much of the poor. Laws and our healthcare system keep them in poverty. The general public is not trained for complex medical care.
3. Housing costs
3. Housing costs and stagnant wages are a big part of this. Ppl with full time jobs and kids are living in vans. We would need far less "charity" if we had living wages and limited greed with housing and land. Look up how much land/housing billionaires grabbed after the 08 crash.

Wow! Great work!
Great reminder.
It’s a grift
His followers pay

Everyone falls for it, sadly
He is literally profiting off human suffering in the guise of helping
It’s almost a bullet proof grift because it’s all so nice, but when examined? Nope
He gives people 500 dollars, sure, then he posts it over multiple platforms and rakes in money
If he feels a person is a special case he gets his followers to donate to a go fund me
It’s a grift!! Plain and simple
Xxxxx
In the early 90s, I was sleeping under an overpass, battling AIDS related complications & waiting to die.
I’m here today because people cared & believed in me when I couldn’t.
Grateful every day for that second chance.

Glad you were shown compassion. I'm sure you deserved it, as all human beans do.
