In NZ a couple of decades ago, we were privileged to be invited to a Marae, and a haka of greeting started the evening off. I felt like my insides had been reorganized. Really impressive.
That’s the unity of having a culture. The Hakka. Māori. It’s beautiful. Americans are like the guy just sitting there awkwardly staring waiting for it to be over. We have no native culture because we are all from somewhere else. Except for the indigenous peoples who were here first.
The Haka was performed in November 2024 over a bill that David Seymour (a NZ Cabinet minister) right leaning party tried to introduce to law. Fortunately the bill was defeated and will not be brought into force. https://www.bbc.com/news/articles/c8je9013m0ro
I would pay good money to see the Democrats in Congress to toughen up and grow a pair 1/2 the size of this women protesting a bill she knows isn’t worth a 💩!
Thats an MP from our Greens party, and he is standing out of respect. Hana is facing the people you should be laughing at. Not one of the MPs that voted against the bill.
