Earlier this week Kansas City International Airport (MCI) turned 52 years old. MCI became Kansas City’s commercial service airport on 11 November 1972 and, since opening, has served 450 million air travelers.

I attended the MCI opening. Three horseshoe-shaped terminals with what I think were wooden 2”x2”s placed butt end up as flooring (designed to be easy on feet/legs).
The whole thing was magnificent and intuitive to negotiate.
New terminal is great but I will reserve soft spot for the original. ❤️
