Hadn’t watched an adult animé in a long time (Ghost in the Machine). So I tried Arcane. Yes. The graphics hit new highs, the picks for music was inspired, the storyline was engaging, and the philosophy was elevated.
I really want to get into it but it feels visually slow for some reason and it throws off my eyes and makes me tired. I may actually try speeding it up and watching it again
Watch as they do it again in 2-3 years from now. It's confirmed that Fortiche is gonna do more stories. Likely exploring Noxus, the region Ambessa hails from. But I'd be surprised if they explore a different region like the spiritual eastern province of Ionia or the swashbuckling ports of Bilgewater
Correction: they have three ideas. Not three series being developed simultaneously. According to an interview with Necrit, Riot and Fortiche are already working on one series like Arcane and is one year into its development, but have three ideas from here on out.
I've watched some many good, even great, series, and nothing has felt as complete as Arcane. It's gonna take the ultimate perfect storm to get close again
I can't wait to see all the shows that are going to come out having been inspired by Arcane. Also, I'm currently watching Arcane, Scavenger's Reign, and Pantheon on Netflix. It's such an incredible wealth of animated shows.
I'm really mentally struggling with the fact that we are simultaneously getting big budget things like Arcane alongside big budget " live action" lilo and stitch and how to train your dragon. We are getting both the best and worst things to happen to animation simultaneously.
I know from multiple differents inside sources that several studios (and some of the biiiiig ones) had "emergency" meeting for quality check after the release of act 1 of season 2 of arcane.
it's mind-bending that Riot (with fortiche of course) got to release something like this first, and not Blizzard. Blizzard has had soooo many opportunities for this kind of thing most notably with Overwatch aaaaaand nothing. If blizzard tried now it'd get endlessly compared to chasing arcane I feel
i can't wait to watch the new batch, trying to avoid spoilers until then. i have to rewatch the first season first so i can both remember where it left off and, of course, enjoy all the greatness a second time.
it feels so special and so rare to have in animation… this commitment to diverse and character driven storytelling, this many kinds of different animation techniques used for the story, all exceptionally funded and presented to a COMMERCIAL audience… it’s incredible
I admire the animation and see why they won awards. Unfortunately their story writing and character development sometimes come up short. Characters saying out of character things, story is a bit confusing for how much the story doesn’t progress. I hope season 2 is better
Yeah, the writing and pacing in season 2 wasn't as tight as it could've been. Still, it was an overall enjoyable show, and it'll pave the way for otheranimated shows to try out stories of this depth and caliber
I agree! I think cyber punk runners edge is the first to do it properly, transitioning game to show. I hope these keep coming, it’s great seeing a side of a world we’re not used to *que kingdom hearts music*
Hey! First season is on Netflix, I think it just got there, and on Amazon prime. The second season is free on YouTube. Honestly amazing show, a must see.
especially when you’re going “well i only have to stare at the sun for three more minutes it can’t be that bad.” and then the sun violently explodes killing everyone you love. (i think i lost my point but you get the idea)
I went into it with no knowledge of it other than a few character names. I don't think you need to know anything about it before watching, it's just STUNNING animation and character designs and environments.
The actual design of everything is amazing. The character development and story is a bit off. I give it a solid 7.5/10 but I wouldn’t recommend it purely off aesthetics
Check out the trailers and see if it catches your interest. It's handpainted textures on 3d models so if you like looking at concept art for movies and games, you might like this.

Sadly, that is usually not what companies are looking for.
It’s good vibes all around.
Where can I watch Pantheon?
