Voting yes was a necessary evil to avoid a runaway shutdown that Dems were powerless to end I'll drop a mini below to describe the dystopian shutdown avoided. He picked some invulnerable people like Shaheen and some loyalists like fellow NYer Gillibrand to vote with him.
More than anything I think they would have wanted to shut down. Not on their own dime they don't want to be blamed for it but a shutdown blamed on Democrats where they could keep government closed for a year why not?
Those are polls are before the right wing information machine kicks in. Trump and GOP are on ropes right now with all their shenanigans people are pissed off. But they're used to being pissed off at Democrats so it's pretty easy to imagine transferring blame would be comfortable for all involved.
I didn’t say one was good and the other was bad. They were BOTH bad choices. And neither was because of democrats. The choice that does the less damage is the choice you go with. They needed cover from the idiocy of social media. 90% of the prairie fire has no idea what they’re fanning.
Book tours are arranged months in advance. No one had a clue this was going to be going on. In fact, the publishers schedule book tours. Not the author. I’m sure they aren’t happy either but it has nothing to do with being “clueless”. And what an extreme waste of energy for people to
Vought, Miller and the rest of the Project 2025 staff he hired.... you know, the what's this Project 2025 I keep hearing about?....I know nothing about it (on the campaign trail)! And then hired seven of them!
Both options were bad the CR and the shutdown, BUT Schumer gave up, he didn't even try. The republicans completely refused to let the democrats into the negotiations. He could have come out before the deadline, called a press conference, informed the people what was happening, and he didn't.
He definitely should’ve handled it better but that’s nothing compared to the choices they had to pick from. I’m the last human on earth to whine about how another handles an impossible situation

The Republicans are testing the waters. The next bill will be worse. “That idiot Schumer will do whatever we tell him to do.”
Read something about 1933 Germany.
Yes, I know it’s unrelated. But it shows how clueless he is.
