We need to know the difference between administrative and judicial warrants. Also: which buildings on campus are considered open to public (library maybe) and which ones aren't (like dorms). These things can give you the confidence to hold people off.

I've been out of the profession for a few years now, but in my experience, it was often department chairs and deans whose decisions determined who...exited. I think assessing (privately, to oneself) the chair's and dean's values, and track records of standing up vs. lying down, could be important.

I live in the Brown University neighborhood. I can protect students from being snatched off the street. With some help, I bet we could even get them back before they get on a plane. More, what are the governors doing? State citizens are being arrested and detained without due process of law & more.

Govs need to muster the NG and issue directives to ICE regulating its conduct within State boundaries. If ICE refuses, blockad, forcibly release detainees, & maybe arrest agents.

We are a federation, with the Federal Army, and 50 other armies in air forces. Neither Congress nor the courts have guns or handcuffs. But all of the governors do, and they have both the legal and physical authority to enforce the law. No one else.

Constitutional crisis? Announce it with an army.

When I started grad school, one international student I was friends with said they always carried the number of their immigration lawyer with them.

Sharing those contacts broadly in a department may be a tangible step. Not enough but a step.
