Hi Nathan. Here is an idea. We are hoping to bring Liz Miller to campus in the fall for a talk. Maybe we could think about a double header with you discussing the new book? Best, Fredrik
aw thank you andrea-- contrary to the title, or in tension with it, the book is mostly about how to move forward with positive & real collective projects in the absence of false consolation, so 'hope'!
Oh. My. God. This is *exactly* the book I need right now (currently reading heavily/preparing to write about hope, Emily Dickinson, cancer, climate, and art). Preordering now.
this means a lot to me daegan, and i'd be so honored if you'd read it β i think we might have a lot of thoughts in common on these questions & i would love to hear yours. i think the association w illness narratives is really important but i don't say a thing about it
things are bad; victory is not on offer; the enemies are winning. but ppl can join together and, with creativity, transform in small ways the conditions of life. these interventionsβgathered, focused, and instantiated in concrete actsβwill reorder the world ππΏ
You don't know how much I can't wait to read this book general, and this in particular: "You Companioned I Am Not Alone: Rossetti and Solidarity". You're one of the ones who writes so beautifully on Rossetti. Thank you for giving me something to look forward to in "challenging" times.
