Thanks. I haven’t seen it in writing or media until now. It makes me sick to the stomach to read but I’ve had stomach ulcers since the November election.
Trust me, you are not alone. I am dual citizen but I constantly worry about my parents in the US...will my parents lose their SS; will my dad, a vet, lose his medical and pensions? It's harrowing...you have my empathy.
Tim Walz just held a town hall in Iowa on these very topics: Republicans desire to privatise the VA, attack on what they call entitlements but we call Social Security
Exactly. And everyone knows people pay into Social Security when they're of working age and draw benefits after retirement. Everyone knows people are entitled to their SS benefits & taking them away is theft.
I understand your reasoning & rationale. However, most don’t do the research. We now live in a world where if information can’t be relayed in a 30 second clip it’s easily dismissed. The right is aware of this, thus they’ll vilify “entitlement,” and listen for the people to cheer its abolishment.
I hope this ploy is successful. One of the things that frustrated my parents was how isolated they felt around other seniors. My parents HATE Trump and they tried to warn their friends as to what is happening to them now. If this outreach from Walz can change a few minds, then more power to him.

It's not a dirty word, it's just one Republicans have been trying to attach negative connotations to for years.
It’s called “benefits” everywhere else.
