Chelsea's messaging has remained consistent - wanted a winger and a striker but were not going to break the bank to do it now, especially with few teams wanting to sell their best assets.
Enquiries were made for players like Garnacho, but club would only act if the right deal for the right price could be done. If not, it was about making headway for moves to be made in summer and the club believe they have done this for some of their targets.
Few permanent departures but the 5 senior players leaving on loan has been seen by the club in a positive light. Veiga, Chukwuemeka, Disasi and Felix all have joined clubs playing in the Champions League.
The hope is they either benefit from regular game time to be able to come back and help improve Chelsea or, they prove their worth to secure a permanent transfer somewhere and provide income which can be reinvested into other targets.
All in all not much to be excited about, but Chelsea have been through so much change over the last three years, that a fairly subdued bit of trading may not be such a bad thing.

Squad is now more exposed to injuries, but removing bloat/unsettled personnel may improve morale.
