The homogenization has been happening for decades now. I remember being shushed when talking about how Alakazam absorbing half a dozen other mmo fandom sites back in the 90s was a bad trend.

It's the big corporation effect - happens everywhere. Vancouver used to have a bunch of quirky pubs & clubs, but they all got bought by the Donnelly Group & were promptly homogenized & enshittified, now completely indistinguishable from a Browns Socialhouse

They were all Gamer Network (Eurogamer) sites until very recently, which are designed and built by the same design team, and run on the same CMS platform, so it does stand to reason that they share some language. Source: I used to work there.

I'm really thankful outlets like yours exist in a sea of blended together nonsense farming.

To be clear, I respect the people that write for those outlets, they probably didn't "do" anything to make it this way.
