2 things spring to mind when I see idiocy on that scale. This quote and this gif.
'Think of how stupid the average person is, and realize half of them are stupider than that.'
George Carlin
Absolutely. It's saved in my forever reactions folder and gets used quite a bit. The level of stupidity we reach never ceases to amaze me and more and more of GC's musings of years back are scarily accurate now.
It's the warning signs you get in the pit of your stomach and when you get the sense of "I need to get out of here / situations / area I feel a lot as of late, there's a change, it's not even so much idiocy in ppl, seems like there's a nasty undercurrent taking hold in general,
I get that, people becoming more ignorant in general is part of it, ready availability of drugs also something that's an issue too. Belfast city centre has had some issues with that recently that would make me reluctant to bring my kids into the town
Felt that exact sense bringing my fam in to Cork city recently to see two pantomimes, different parts of the city, different days. even at early in the day there was a lot of ppl loitering around and not the in town for shopping crowd, a definite air about the place like you'd want to be very alert
To be fair, id wish I could have muted him. I used to enjoy reading his stuff and listening to his analysis but last few years it's been a race to the bottom, we need a changing of the guard. Many of em.
