yeah, i hadn’t been able to get in touch with her for a very long time after being very close maybe 16 years ago, and had honestly assumed the worst. it was such a relief to hear from her and know she’s still around, even if things have been challenging

Oh I know this feeling, I used to talk to this indie comics artist in South America (we met on tumblr and they left after the mass wiping) and we drifted away after a while during Covid, but they contacted me after that, I think they were/are alive and well

they had some wild stories as they travelled around the continent often, so often crossed armed borders. & their contingency plan was 'emergency commissions' for the guards no joke

(apparently comics artists in these regions do that a lot)
