Makes sense, i think “sock hop” was an early 50s coinage so the word hop had to be an older general term for the new particular term to be meaningful.

I just did and it's weird; she DID call it a HOP, that was no frog reference, it was a dance. High school had sock hops, then the word vanished for RAVES. 🐸
