Sonic 3 was amazing. Leagues above the first two movies, easily. I have some very small gripes, but I was thoroughly entertained throughout. Need to watch it again though before I can make a video on it.

so, sonic 1 and 2 had jim carey, is this the same type of movie as those 2? or is it more cartoonish.? i seen part of a preview on tik tok but it didnt show much
I don't know about Cartoonish but while Carey's Eggman seems about as I remember him in the previous outings, the story itself does treat things as seriously as they warrant I'd say.
Gotta watch a few more times to know for sure if this is above 2 for me. I REALLY liked 2 and what they did with that film. 3 is definitely the better paced film and that 2nd half is just GOD tier! 🤯
And the POST CREDITS SCENE!!!
In the the first one, the sister who never liked the male star says to her sister ‘what is it? Is it emails?’ a reference to Hillary Clinton’s ‘server’
In the second, Carey says ‘it’s a complicated issue; there’s good people on both sides’, referring to when Trump equated BLM with white supremacy
You know that feeling when a joke overstays its welcome? That's how I felt about a lot of the Gerald/Ivo scenes. They were funny, but dragged on longer than they really needed to.
Yeah, I DEFINITELY got whiplash from the wild tonal shifts. You get used to it, but man is it jarring at first. Goes from talking about Shadow's origin with utmost serious to immediately doing a Chao dance, for a less spoilery example.
Exactly. For me it's a 7.5, but it fluctuated mostly throughout due to the wild tonal shifts. I came out having whiplash due to them lmao. But, there's certainly enough humor, heart, action, and great acting to elevate it just a bit. ALOT of room for improvement, but peak video game movie, easily.
That's wonderful to hear. I really do have a soft spot for the first two Sonic movies. They're solid, entertaining movies. But hearing about how the third one seems to really be kicking it into highgear has me SUPER excited to see it.
Ooooh, I was sensing a vibe shift just from the previews. I haven't watched any of them yet (imma wait for the kiddos to show interest) but the tone of this latest movie seemed like it has more of a story to tell. The other two movie trailers felt a lot like "LOOK! SONIC! AND HIS FRIENDS! WOAH!"
I would go as far as to say it's the strongest interpretation of the SA2 story overall. I was skeptical about some changes just being "okay I can deal" but most things legitimately work to its benefit, as upgrades or at least alternatives.
Like, I'm not taking the time for a movie that is "look! Selling the 80s and 90s to the kids of those kids aren't we smart!" and doesn't put in the effort to gain me as an adult fan. The Sonic movies have felt like this so hearing that there's something different going on is encouraging!
I'm ngl, it's still kinda like that. But, it's definitely a film I'd recommend to non-Sonic or adult Sonic fans, as well. It still has juvenile humor, but there are definitely more awesome/heartwarming/heartbreaking scenes this time. And the humor mostly works better for me, this time.
I have two young boys so I am always on the lookout for a kids movie that satisfies an adult or at least doesn't make me cry in a corner in the fetal position.
I didn't cry or tear up, but there are a few emotional moments. But they're DEFINITELY broken up by the comedy haha. We go from one epic or emotional scene to the silliest thing you've ever seen haha.
Glad to hear it lived up to the hype Curious to hear your thoughts on those small gripes after a second watch sometimes repeat viewings reveal even more to appreciate (or nitpick)
Felt like they finally embraced that it is a "sonic" movie, no more buddy cop/weird side plots, it knows what the audience is here for and does so without throwing out any other relationships they established in the previous stuff. Very happy with it
Knuckles series is not withstanding, I don’t understand why everyone has a problem with Wade, Tom, and Maddie. They’re literally the best human characters this franchise has ever seen.

And the POST CREDITS SCENE!!!
Seriously, though. I think this wins the crown for best video game movie ever. It's either this or the 90s Mortal Kombat.
In the second, Carey says ‘it’s a complicated issue; there’s good people on both sides’, referring to when Trump equated BLM with white supremacy
*Spoilers*
Like when we cut from Super Sonic/Shadow with Live and Learn to see the spanking scene? I was like cmon man keep the climax going 😔🙏🏻
Really needed a full uninterrupted fight with Live and Learn
Also cool thing, I ran into Johnny Gioeli at the theater there to see the film himself.
(just joking, boy did Knuckles suck)
