So it’s not the entertainers who act and sing for a fraction of what their work makes for the billionaires. It’s the billionaires looking for something to do once a year to make them feel good about themselves.
They raised $31M last night. If someone wants to spend even more for their outfit, which I don’t think occurred last night, I’m not gonna hate. Most of the attendees are high profile artists, teaming up with high profile designers. It’s all a part of the marketing budget. And, again, $31M raised.
Yea, I got one of those emails. Can’t even reply to thank them for all the years of personal support they gave. That email address is likely being vetted by Big Balls, et al., and not seen by the intended recipients.
🤔 really? Designers (artists) are making outfits for musicians (artists), actors (artists), and other creatives (artists). Some designers are actually there, too, wearing their designs (art). There’re all doing it to raise money for charity to a museum of…art. If you don’t like the concept, say it.
As we learned very recently, your funding can be arbitrarily rescinded, depending on the capriciousness or downright obnoxiousness of your politics. $31M in the hand is worth more than $100M in Federal grants right now.
Not if you are protesting though... There are people there obsessed with fashion that are simultaneously antifascist, and seeing more visible protests in their circle can have a large effect, a multiplier if you will.
However, this is neither here nor there, since it didn't happen.
"Superfine: Tailoring Black Style explores the importance of style to the formation of Black identities in the Atlantic diaspora, particularly in the United States and Europe."
I needed a distraction right now and the Met Gala was a nice one. Insensitive, to me, will be if trump spends millions on a parade for himself while the Federal Government has eliminated over $1B in funding that helps bring local food to schools and food banks.
This. Any other time I'm down for it, but right now, in the midst of the sh*tstorm that is our Govt, I just can't. I hate this being turned into a topic of racial disparity when that is far from the case. At present there are much more important issues/tasks at hand than a fancy dress parade.
And like, I don’t give a fuck what the money is for. It’s not solving a material problem and these assholes would pay three times as much for the chance to go to the met gala and have us do a “who wore it best” about two morons in a melted trash can.
Oh, c'mon. Don't you find it entertaining that people paid tens of thousands of dollars to dress up like a tablecloth covered in a doily, a shag carpet or a carnival barker? Sheesh.

That makes sense.

No journalistic outlet: Fort Knox
For real though, I'd go, and wear a gown by C.L.A.W.S. Cat Lovers Against White Supremacy. Protest in all the spheres! Even the hoighty toighty ones!
Hanging out with the bourgeoise on hubris night is obeying in advance.

Blocked those posts straight up!
Noisey hooligans full of self absorbed ego.
