necessary information to validate what they are claiming. However it does tell us enough to know that what the DOGE claims is deceptive. For example, this one tells us that this order was set to expire on 9/29/25 & the agency had already paid $8.1M

Thanks for this. Appears to be USDA Farm Services Agency. Looked up the procurement identifier. It’s a contract for “climate smart commodities,” a program to help develop climate resilient ag products. Performance site is in @sanders.senate.gov’s state.

I think the DOGE is just searching FPDS by keyword. Anything with the word “climate”, “environment”, “equity”, etc are being ID’ed. Not sure what criteria the agencies are using to determine for terminations.

not a poor assumption to assume that the majority of the goods or services have been delivered by now. Which means the govt is on the hook to pay that $8.1M, if it hasn’t already. Moreover, the govt may actually end up paying MORE than $8.1M because terminations for convenience are rarely free.

I work in FM and there are almost ALWAYS costs involved in early termination of contracts. The government is on the hook for those "obligations" regardless if the contract was cancelled or not. He's not saving money...he's costing the government more.

With 7 months left (which may not even be accurate - agencies often set that “Ultimate Completion Date” to a later date than what is in the contract/order), I made the assumption that most of the goods or services have been delivered by now, which also means that most of that $8.1M has been paid.

As for the rest of the document. A three year contract doesn’t necessarily pay out all at once. The biz could ask for advances, but that’s a case by case.

The document is posted on the DOGE’s X account so it wouldn’t matter if I redacted any of it. My point though was that this order is finished in 7 months so most of that $8.1M has likely already been paid out.

Right. It’s highly unlikely that $8.1M was saved, which is what the DOGE is claiming & taking credit for. The agency might very well now have to come up with more than $8.1M to settle the termination.

Bottom left corner is one of the indicators for foreign funding (Foreign Military Sales (FMS)). It is basically set to “no”. But if it was FMS funding then any funds would go back to the foreign country, not the USG. Also, the foreign county would have to pay any termination settlement costs.

I’d like to start seeing these corporations suing the U.S. government for breaches of contract. Also we’re going to need follow-up reports on the status of these companies after contracts are canceled. Layoffs? P&Ls? How will the sudden decrease in profits and incomes affect their local economies?
