What about us who learned this through trial and error, leaving us with the memories of the relationship we strove for but have only sorrow to comfort us as we carry on?
My wife and I have great relationships with our adult kids. Agree with the article 100%. Cannot emphasize enough the importance of respect and non-judging. We enjoy the presence of our kids and keep our advice to ourselves unless asked.
