He tried to do this X with PayPal, almost ruined company and bancrupted investors (not only because of brand), got ousted. Now he is more crazy than then and there are nobody to stop him.
Remember him promising that tesla will be completely self driving in 2 years 5 times or when he said he’ll get rid of the bots on twitter.
I am getting a feeling his words don’t weight much
He didn't even need to have Twitter to build this...also twitter isn't WeChat.
There is no one on Twitter that I want to pay except mutual aid, for which there are trusted third parties. I'm not splitting bills on Twitter and don't want it tied to my identity.
I don't even want WeChat, as its information can be sent over to the Communist Party of China. I believe most people, myself included, would like Social Media separate from our financial accounts.
I'd say that Google comes pretty close to that in the west. There are also cases where people who were banned from youtube lost access to their entire Google accounts.
But in this context, Google doesn't have even close to half the market in payments. I was an early adopter of both Gmail and GPay, which have been around forever, and I'm still forced to use Venmo/PayPal cuz no one else uses Google for money.
And then put a guy in charge who scares away users...
I actually liked G+ compared to FB, mainly due to the superior Photos, easier ways to meet new people and no ads. The interface was good, especially the Circles. However it went downhill when Google focused on growth and tied it to YouTube and everything else. It ended up a mess.
Agreed, in Taiwan we use LINE, which is very similar to WeChat but developed in Japan. That isn't a full fledged Social Media platform as it's SMS first, even though you can use it to pay for things if you want to. Elon is trying to mislead us on purpose, so I hope Americans don't get tricked.
I tried to like Discord but just haven't gotten used to it. I think it's mainly due to the messy mobile app. If they can simplify it, I would be into it.
Maybe Bluesky should update their logo to include the Twitter bird flying in the blue sky haha.
LINE is the big messaging platform in Thailand as well, but if you have a smartphone, payments are almost always made through direct bank transfers. Generating a QR code is quick and easy and every Thai app does it so we don't need third party payment platforms.
Yes, amazed people here are so aware of the world and not stuck in one country. I've traveled to several countries and yes, LINE is huge in Thailand as well. I think Japan, Taiwan and Thailand have nearly 95% of their respective population using it. QR codes are huge in Asia.
Dude I used WeChat for three years not even thinking once about it in my early 20s and I would bet both testicles the Chinese govt still looks at the rambling shit posts I made wondering who the fuck that weirdo was.
Make your words? Make? This is probably some conveniently mis-spelt brainwashing technique to get people to ‘make’ his words by planting it in their collective subconscious 🙄 I wouldn’t put it past him. I don’t think there is a mistake. 🔪😱
X․com was originally Paypal...X.com went on to become PayPal. Musk stopped being CEO of PayPal in 2000 and later received $165 million for his shares in 2002 when eBay acquired PayPal.....X is now back with vengeance and Paypal will be a thing of the past...😁
Elon Musk is what happens when you get a fat ass tax refund you weren't planning on and have nothing better to do than buy hallucinogens. "What if we harnessed the power of the collapse of a pistol shrimp's air bubble. Dude, it burns hotter than the sun. Surely we can use that energy!"
Nonono, it makes perfect sense! You see, he's saying "make" because the guy he's replying to is a Saudi, and the Saudis tell Elon what he's allowed to say.
My semi-serious theory is that he watched eXistenZ (1999), got fixated on 90’s cyberpunk aesthetic, and is absolutely convinced the letter ‘x’ is extremely cool.
So if he paid $44b for twitter, and lost half its value already before this according to the man himself, and now it's lost a further $20b in value with the rebrand, then that's valuing twitter at $2b? We sure this isn't a Brewster's millions bit?

Also if someone gets banned from Twitter it's not a big deal. But banned from their financial services??
I think it might be fine if it was tied into texting or messaging with IRL friends, but that's not what Twitter is.
G+ failed, people don't want soc med tied to their offline lives. I have a burner for YT and don't post there anyway.
Tech monopolies are very real, and I'm very wary of how much Google couldn't fuck up my life. 1/
And then put a guy in charge who scares away users...
Even though I don't use that for irl friends, I can see it working for that.
Maybe Bluesky should update their logo to include the Twitter bird flying in the blue sky haha.
(Actually I think we might be able to do this through zelle or something? But people mostly use Venmo etc)
Now it's all about the covenants on the debt.
Because "x" is how a light "sh" is read in Pinyin, which is used to help kids learn to read their characters.
U think Elmusko can intimidate Microsoft into giving up the trademark? Me neither.
Unless he puts in more equity, it's in bankruptcy this fall.
Mark, my words
