Has there ever been a time banning a book effected it sales in a negative way? From what I see when If i make to publishing I should probably campaign for it to be banned for buzz.
"Banning books" as it currently exists is hardly real in any way that matters , its just a reading list .
It's not about sales. Banning books in schools and libraries ensures that they are not read by those who cannot afford to purchase them. It is privilege to think that banning books is a good idea.
and in the context of the post it literally is about sales, that's what a publishers job is, the author remains free to post it free if they are so compelled. Turns out it often is about sales you cant eat good will.
Its privilege to think that's what preventing people from accessing them in those area. Its entirely performative, most places where the books are banned they did not have them, but now people in those areas can and will seek them out, it was driven based on campaigns not real concern complaints
Agreed. I would see it as a badge of honor. My writing has gotten Sunday Book Kultists (MAGA and mega church evangelicals) panties in a twist. As a pagan writer it would be the highest achievement that they could give me.
I’m glad you called me on it. Makes me wonder what else I’ve mis-written. I should probably put my glasses on too. Maybe tomorrow. Goodnight my new friend and thank you
But can we ban AI books? Please? I'm calling them fauxauthor or fauxwriter from here on out. If it's AI written, they can't be called author or writer from me.
I’m a librarian. I know you didn’t mention them here, but if you ever see a pro-book banning librarian, know that they are violating the ALA code of ethics and the Freedom to Read statement. Librarians against intellectual freedom shouldn’t exist but they do.
If you ban a book prices go high. That’s fuel to a new conspiracy theory for the Trump supporters, they will start saying the orange guy is saving American publishing industry.
What about books that are very 'pro-book banning'? Those books should be banned, right? We don't want anybody getting any ideas. They should leave our beautiful books alone.
I specifically named our adult spec fiction imprint Malevolent to embrace provocative and daring ideas. People can ban books in their little myopic corner of the universe but they will not banish the stories. They will be held up high for anyone who wants them.
