In terms of talent, no. In terms of balance, sure. Tonali is a fantastic talent but he’s hardly been undroppable for us. Perhaps the error was to sign a replacement for Bruno in a market with few obvious buyers at his age and value.

I think that’s my point, why did we buy him if we end up with Longstaff as a better option? The balance of our whole squad is odd. Multiple options on the left and none on the right. Our recruitment has been poor.
I can only think we bought him thinking Bruno was away and he’d have a season to bed-in. Given the financial constraints, Tonali and Barnes do feel like luxuries in this squad. Mitchell had a point, didn’t he?
