And truthfully, the grassroots group that grew up in spite of my "torch the boats" tactics is probably a better advocacy group.

BUT, one thing this group never ever did, was compromise on its values.

You don't get trans people yelling at pols to "eat shit and die"...

...when those pols aren't trying to suggest compromising the position of their values.

The "eat shit and die" isn't a response to a lack of power, its a response to people bending to the zeal of oppression.

Me and @carinthia.bsky.social (a wonderful wonderful kind person) don't see eye to eye on attitude. BUT what she would never do is compromise her beliefs.

We briefly encountered each other fighting LGBTQ book bans in Louisiana, and while she's nicer than I was...

...we'd never compromise that some content in libraries should be banned to save others.

You can be nice and stand up for your values. You lose respect when you stop standing up for those values.
