Sometimes you can't see what's going on because:
- You're not meant to as a way to give you the same feelings as the MC.
- It helps cut budget costs so they can put money towards other things being better.
- Doing so conceals a plot device.
- Too hard or expensive to show.
I want to rewatch it so I can really dive into all the themes and psychology of the film but I will say that it was CREEPY. Count Orlok is terrifying, Lily-Rose Depp's physical performance is genuinely eerie, and the eroticism plays heavily into the horror. There's nothing beautiful about it.
