I felt this when I used to draw everyday, when I started writing, and especially now that I'm makimg YouTube videos
it doesn't always feel worth it but I always try to push through to the end
honestly this comic has helped me a lot!! if i feel bad about a current project i'll remember, oh! i'm just in the swamp! gotta keep going, gotta push through, you can do it!!💖
I feel like this is the book I’m writing now. I came up with the idea almost a year ago, got it sold, convinced myself I couldn’t pull it off, and now I’m crawling back onto land.
So far the swamp has not existed for me, I’ve just been feeling excitement as parts of what I draw look decent, and internalize how I achieved it, then improve what I dislike. However, I’m still only even practicing anatomy and angling. Slowly but surely the understanding is coming together!
This is the exact creative process. You enter the forbidden Idea Mines, get pulverized by thought goblins, crawl through the filth of your own ambition, and emerge on the other side clutching a single, beautiful gem. Then you post it online and some guy named Greg says “your a cunt lol”
Many times, been in the swamp and worried it wouldn't come out looking great. But eventually we have to finish the piece to actually appreciate it. ;w;
This is me with my thesis, I'm in a secret stage after starting to climb out of the swamp and before finishing in which I'm like "hey it looks like I'm gonna finish this and it's actually looking pretty good?"
I needed to see this because I'm sliding into the swamp right now.
All of the "I'll figure it out when the time comes" pieces... their time has come and it's just sloggy guuuh.
I have been in the swamp a couple of times and honestly it's killed projects that I've started writing.
Though I'm learning that, if I jot stuff down constantly I can jump in and out so I don't burn out.

"Nope, different swamp and definitely no dead horses here."
I am sending my warmest vibes and hopes for you to escape the mire ASAP. You can do it.
