SB 295 is a deceptively worded bill imposing a society wide dress code and will be capriciously applied against LGBT people. SB 295 jeopardizes public Pride parades and celebrations. #moleg 2/x
SB 295 does not define male or female impersonators, so ambiguity will be capriciously and erratically enforced by officers without guidance or notice to the public what is prohibited dress. #moleg 3/x
This bill is repeatedly sold as, "keeping kids out of drag bars" but that is a false talking point as bars are 21+. Further, parents who wish to take their kids to cultural events, like Pride parades, should be free to do so. #moleg 4/x
Finally, indecent exposure laws already exist and are enforced. Drag performers wear costumes of multiple layers of clothing, several layers of padding, and do not expose themselves. SB 295 would just be a tool to shut down Pride parade and gay bars. #moleg 5/x
