I am moved by the passing of Alain Fuchs. We never worked together, but he taught me thermodynamics when I was an undergrad, gave me a PhD prize and then grilled me on my first CNRS interview. As PSL president, he supported my most ambitious projects and gave us a clear vision for chemistry at PSL.
