We're headed toward a cliff, and never forget that the cliff was created by people who intend to make money from us going over it. I dearly wish Douthat's vision was wide enough to include that.
I wish Douthat could imagine a world that survives by being bigger not smaller. That can be a place of thriving for all families, all art, and all religion rather than only reactionary ones.
