This will have significant blowback. Regardless of the validity of the intent, to a significant chunk of the user base, it will look like out of touch old people trying to ban youth culture.

I agree. The government is going after free speech. It is going after a hostile authoritarian power that owns it in order to stop it from spying on us. This would all go away if the Chinese sold the company to an American company.

What are the dangers if the United States government decides what media 170 million Americans may consume? What are the dangers of the PRC having access to personal data of so many Americans when it could far more easily purchase such info on the free market from legal data brokers?
