tbf, fedi still couldn't get their head around Nostr not having instances (its a big bunch of relays), and that's been around for almost as long as ActivityPub. But fingers crossed it helps a little more 🤞

Yup. Also of note, Nostr is kinda becoming more like atproto in the sense that bigger clients like Primal and Ditto are running the read side entirely off of aggregator relays.

What's interesting to see also is various clients handling moderation... which is a far better idea than private relays

If anything, ATProto and Nostr seem to be more closely related

Agreed, a fair amount in common. Although what sets atproto apart in spots is the experience the team took from SSB. Nostr is running into a lot of issues SSB ran into, and although it's coming up with new and creative ways to solve them the end result still leaves it some distance from atproto UX.
